  Florida Anime Experience
Florida Anime Experience

Date: May 24-26
Where: International Palms Resort & Conference Center

6515 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819.
Details: event details

Started in 2011, Florida Anime Experience is a fan convention designed to focus specifically on anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture. The “No Halo in our Game Room” policy extends through the DNA of our event. Many anime conventions in and around Florida have, in recent years, diluted themselves by incorporating elements of comic books, science fiction, steam punk, and video games that have little to nothing to do with Asian based popular culture.

We’re looking to change that.

Where: Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront

225 CoastLine Drive East Jacksonville, FL 32202

Details: event details

Ancient City Con (or ACC) started in 2007 as a one day only convention in St. Augustine, FL. We set out to create a convention where all things related to Sci-fi, Fantasy, Gaming and Anime were welcome instead of creating a specific “geek niche” event. The majority of programming and events at ACC are primarily run by fans for the fans. Since then, we have moved north to Jacksonville, FL and expanded to a 3 day convention that includes all things Sci-fi, Fantasy, Gaming, Contests, Anime, Horror, Literary & Publishing, Cosplay, Discussion Panels, Art, Independent Film Screening, Nerdcore Musicians/Bands, Special Guests and more! We have received tremendous help and support from the fan community and continue to grow and add something new every year!

This annual exhibition is part of the Introduction to Museum Ethics, Policies and Procedures course, intended to teach students about the inner workings of museums.  By having firsthand experience creating an exhibition, students are introduced to a portion of the collection, for which they research the artists and art movements, and work in a team to develop the curatorial threads of the exhibition.  They also learn proper collections and registration procedures by creating the catalog, labels, and supplemental educational materials.
