Announcement:

Mr. Harris Rosen was officially appointed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan as the Honorary Consul General of Japan in Orlando on November 1, 2010.

Consul General Yoshiharu Namiki presented Mr. Rosen with his appointment at the Orlando Japan Festival on November 7, 2010. Mr. Rosen, president and COO of the Rosen Hotel & Resorts, is well known throughout the Orlando area for his charitable work, which includes the establishment of multiple scholarships and the donation of 20 acres of land that now houses the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida.

Orlando has one of the largest and most vibrant Japanese populations throughout the state of Florida. There are multiple local Japanese cultural organizations, including taiko drumming and bonsai groups, as well as many Japanese restaurants, supermarkets, and even a school for children of Japanese citizens. As Honorary Consul General, Mr. Rosen represents Japanese interests in the Orlando area and helps to create a closer connection between central Florida and the Consulate General of Japan in Miami.
